No longer the skill where enormous
profits can be made by selling the finished product. Herby has changed an
awful lot as prices of pots has dropped. Players who are interested in
levelling this skill in its current condition will do well to break even
financially.
To get going seriously in this skill
you will need a substantial amount of cash in the bank to buy your unids.
Unids are very much like a box of chocolates - sometimes you never really
know what you're going to get, and even if you do know you can never
guarantee the quantities therein. This is why I will not be writing timing
tables for this skill.
Collecting unids and identified herbs
to make potions with takes a very long time no matter what method you use so
in the end you will have to start buying them in bulk if you are to start
taking the skill seriously. This done, you will need all the seconds to
complete your potions. This following table will show you how quickly these
seconds can be collected.
In general, the seconds which are
combat based are not worth collecting yourself due to the amount of time it
takes to build up a decent quantity. These ones should be bought separately
and paid for with other more profitable skills.

| You should collect
these from the magic shop in Port Sarim and use amulets of glory to
teleport back to Draynor bank and repeat. Some world hopping is required
but this is quite rare as the shops hold a decent amount in stock. Price
is 3gp each. |

| These should be
collected in the Gnome stronghold on the first floor to the north west.
some of the chocolate will have to be bought in bar chocolate form but
you can use a pestle and mortar on these afterwards to grind them into
chocolate dust. A lot of world hopping is
required. The method is as follows:
Buy all the chocolate dust and as many bars as
you can at the food shop
Run south to the bank and deposit everything
Log out and change worlds
Log back in, go north back to the shop and repeat
The prices are 2gp each for dust and 10gp each
for the bars. You may find that other people are doing the same thing so
careful world selection may be required. The collection rate is great
and even though there is a lot of world hopping you should remind
yourself that these seconds cost up to 400gp each on the forums... |

| This method is
using lyres to telport to Relekka, get the boat to waterbirth Island,
collect snape, teleport back to camelot and then bank at Seers village.
To get the lyres you will need to have first
completed Fremmenik Trails quest. Now go east of Rellekka to the swaying
tree, cut some branches and use a knife on them to make some unstrung
lyres. To string them you need to buy some golden fleece from Lalli the
troll who is just east of the swaying tree. Each golden fleece costs 1k.
When you have enough you should take the fleece
to a spinning wheel (seers or Lumbridge castle). Spin into golden thread
and use with your lyres.
To charge the lyres you need to take them and
some raw sharks to the strange alter just south west of the entrance to
Rellekka. Use the raw sharks with the alter to charge the lyres. |

| To use this method
you will need to have completed the lunar diplomacy quest and set your
magics to lunar spells. You will need a
water staff, lots of law runes, lots of astral runes, amulets of glory
and a dealing ring. The ring is just incase you forget to bring a
charged glory.
The method is:
Teleport to Waterbirth island from Edgeville
Collect Snape grass on the island
Teleport back to Edgeville using the amulet of glory
Bank your snape grass and repeat
This method is considerably faster than using
lyres but it will cost you more if you cannot craft your own astral
runes. |

| You should collect
these on ogre island, just east of Castle Wars. To do so you will need
plenty of ropes (buy from the rogues den in Burthorpe), also you will
need rings of duelling to speed up the collection process. The method is
as follows: Exit castle wars to the east
Go south across the small bridge then east to ogre island
Use a rope on the tree branch and swing across
Collect the jangerberries on the ground
Teleport back to Castle Wars using a ring of duelling
Bank and repeat |
You should concentrate as much of your efforts on
the potions above. Collecting other seconds like red spiders eggs, unicorns
horns, potato cactus etc is so slow that you should never consider
collecting them yourself. Its too inefficient. Making the other potions
should be done by purchasing the necessary seconds.
