Hunter

Hunter is great fun once you get into it. It can be slow going at first but the rate at which you gain XP gets faster every single level and this doesn't stop until you reach level 99!

Another great thing about the skill is that, apart from the very small amount of money needed to buy hunting equipment, it is entirely FREE! You can get this skill all the way up to level 99 for next to nothing so if you're looking to reach a high level in a skill and you don't have that much money then this is the skill for you.

Important: When levelling up your hunter you should never use bait or bother to smoke your traps. Both of these methods are pointless. They do not help enough so you should ignore them.

The levelling method is as follows:

1-5 Crimson Swifts
5-9 Golden Warblers
9-15 Copper Longtails
15-25 Ruby Harvest Butterflies
25-29 Sapphire Glacialis Butterfiles
29-47 Swamp Lizards
47-53 Orange Salamanders
53-63 Chinchompas
63-99 Red Chinchompas

First go the hunter shop in yanville. Its a good idea this point to buy all the equipment you are going to need so there is no need to return to this shop in the future. You should buy the following:

1 bird trap
1 butterfly net
10 butterfly jars
20 box traps

You won't need anything like 20 box traps but its possible that you may lose some along the way. Along with these you should get 10 ropes from the rogues den and 10 small fishing nets from any fishing shop.

1-5 Crimson swifts

Go to the south east corner of the jungle, south of the Feldip hills (closest bank is either Yanville or Castle
wars. Set up your bird trap and walk a few steps away from it. It takes patience but soon a swift will come along and either land on the trap or knock it down. If it knocks the trap over simply pick it up and set it down again.

15-25 Ruby Harvest butterflies

When you get to level 15, equip the butterfly net and go just north of the Copper longtails near the fairy ring. This is a great spot to catch the red butterflies. Don't bother banking the butterflies as they are worth next to nothing and give no extra XP. Just keep releasing the butterflies as you go along.

25-29 Sapphire Glacialis Butterflies.

When you get level 25, either use a lyre to teleport to Rellekka or tele to Camelot and walk north to Rellekka. From here go east then north past the Keldagrim entrance to the polar hunting spot. Keep going north across the little bridge then go to the west side of the tracking area. This is the best spot to catch the blue butterflies.

29 2:03:30 4:00 1,207

29-47 Swamp Lizards

At level 29 you should definitely invest in the 2 most important camouflage sets. These are the woodland/ jungle one (Spined Larupia) and the desert set (Horned Graahk). You don't need the polar set.

Put on the Larupia camouflage. Take 5 ropes and 5 small fishing nets from your bank. Next use the Ectophial to teleport to the Ectofuntus and go south west to the swamp lizard hunting spot. This area is fairly quiet now but if you find someone else there, don't worry there are enough spots for 3 people to level at the same time. Don't bother banking the lizards. Just drop them as you go.

Don't' forget to start using more traps as soon as the ability become available.

46 4:11:00 13:00 6,471
47 4:24:00 14:00 7,144

47-53 Orange Salamanders

At level 47 put on the desert camouflage set. Keep your 5 ropes and 5 small nets in your inventory. Take also a ring of duelling. Go to the Shantay pass and buy around 10 water skins (4). Go east across the bridge to the desert hunting area. Use the small trees to the southern end to set up your traps.

Eventually you will run out of water so use your ring of duelling to teleport back to the bank and re supply on water skins. You only need to restock once to get to level 53.

Don't bother banking the salamanders - they are worth next to nothing and offer no further XP. Just release them as you go along.

53 6:05:00 24:00 12,934

53-63 Chinchompas (grey ones)

At this point you can start using hunter to make you a little money or alternatively use it to gain potential range experience. Chinchompas are great for training range and are also fun to use in wildy.

The best thing about hunting Chinchompas is that they are STACKABLE (oh yes). So you can collect as many as you like and never need to bank!

First put on your woodland/jungle camouflage. Equip a ring of duelling and put box traps into your inventory. Take the glider to the grand tree then walk to the hunting spot just south of the fishing colony.  When setting up your traps make sure you leave spaces in between them. This will improve your chances of catching a chompa! Take a look at the map below to see the best spot to set up your traps.

63-99 Red Chinchompas.

Keep wearing the jungle/woodland camouflage. Tele to castle wars and make sure you've got plenty of box traps.

This done go south of castle wars to the hunter areas. There are 2 main hunter spots. One is on the west edge of the jungle and the other is in the middle to the north next to the large lake. These areas are fairly quiet now but don't worry if you get someone else levelling with you - it won't make too much difference to the XP rate and it will still be faster than levelling at red salamanders. When you first start levelling on these the XP rate can actually be IMPROVED by levelling with another player of a similar level

At first its a good idea to set up your traps spaced out but after you get to level 85 you can confidently set them all up in a line as in the picture. Beyond level 90 you will catch most of the chompas that come along regardless of how your traps are set up.
