Family Crest
Starting point:
Talk to Diminthesis in East Varrock. He's in the house next
to the fancy dress shop.
Items needed: 2 Anti poison
pots, cooked bass, cooked salmon, cooked shrimp, cooked
swordfish, cooked tuna, enough runes to cast 1 each of the 4
blast spells, necklace mould, pickaxe, ring mould and 2 cut
rubies.
Requirements: Level 40 mining,
level 40 crafting, level 40 smithing and level 59 magic. You
must also be able to defeat a level 170 demon. |

Walkthrough: 1. Speak to
Diminthesis who is in a house in south east Varrock. The house
is next to the fancy dress shop. Offer to help him find his
sons.
2. Go to Catherby and enter the house directly north east of the
bank. Talk to Celeb and ask to have his piece of the crest. Give
him the cooked fish he wants and he'll give you his part. Ask
him where the rest of the crest is.
3. Head to Al Karid and talk to the gem trader next to the
glider and ask him about Avan. Head north to the mining spot and
talk to the "man" who turns out to be Avan.
Next go to the Dwarven mines and talk to Boot who is located to
the west of the 2 anvils. Ask boot about the perfect gold.
4. Go to the cave which is just east of Ardougne (right outside
Witchaven).
Enter the cave and follow the passage north east. At the
junction do the following steps:
a) Go to the north wall and pull the lever up
b) Go to the south room and pull the lever up
c) Go to the north wall and pull the lever down
d) Go inside the north room, pull the lever up
e) Go back outside the north room, pull the lever on the wall up
f) Go back to the south room, pull the lever down
5. Now enter the room to the east with the hellhounds. You must
mine two of the gold ores in there.
To do this you may need to kill the hellhounds first or take a
friend with you to watch your back. Sometimes you find people
killing them in there anyway.
6. Head to a furnace and smelt to perfect gold ores into bars.
Then use the 2 bars on the furnace again to make a ruby ring and
a ruby necklace. Take these back to Avan in Al Karid and he
gives you his fragment.
7. Go to the pub directly north east of Varrock. Enter and go
upstairs where you need to speak to Johnathon. Use an anti
poison on him.
8. Go to Edgeville bank and put the fragment shards in there so
you don't lose them if you die fighting the boss. Make sure you
have anti, food, weapon and armour with you along with enough
runes to cast all 4 death blast spells.
Warning: This last part of the
quest takes you into level 5 wildy so you should take only items
with you that you are willing to lose.
9. Go south of edgeville bank and enter Edgeville dungeon.
Inside the dungeon go north then east until you see a gate in
the north wall. Go through the gate then north west past the
skeletons. At the first opportunity you should head west then
south past the black demons where you will find Chronozon.
Attack him with one of each of the blast spells them finish him
off using any other combat method. Take the crest fragment he
drops.
10. Take the other 2 fragments out of your bank again and use
them on each other. Take the family crest back to Diminthesis
and its quest complete!
Reward: Steel gauntlets and a skill
imbue for the gauntlets.
QP reward: 1
Note: The gauntlets can now be
changed into one of the following by talking to one of the 3
brothers you met in the quest:
a) Cooking gauntlets - talk to Celeb in Catherby.
b) Goldsmithing gauntlets - Talk to Avan at the mine in Al Karid.
c) Chaos gauntlets - Talk to Johnothan in the pub north east of
Varrock.
a) Cooking gauntlets will seriously decrease the number fish you
burn while cooking.
b) Goldsmithing gauntlets will give you more smithing XP when
smithing gold bars from ores.
c) Chaos gauntlets will give you more XP when using bolt spells.
Only one of these can be chosen at any one time but they can be
changed for a fee of 25,000 coins by talking to the right
