The Hand in the Sand
Starting point:
Talk to Bert in Yanville. He's in the house nearest the
sandpit.
Items needed: Beer, bucket of
sand, bullseye lantern lense, 5 earth runes, red berry,
white berry and 2 vials.
Recommended items: Watchtower,
Ardougne and Falador Tele runes.
Requirements: 17 thieving and
49 crafting. |

Walkthrough: 1. Talk to Bert
in his house in Yanville. His house is next to the player owned
house portal. Offer to help and he gives you a sandy hand.
2. Go south to the pub and talk to the guard captain. Give him a
beer then go east to the magic guild. Ring the bell outside and
talk to Zavistic Rarve about "a rather sandy problem".
3. Go back to Bert in his house and he gives you his rota. Read
this and then go to Brimhaven.
Enter the house just south of the pub and search Sandy's desk to
get Sandy's rota. Now "examine" Sandy and pickpocket him to get
some sand.
4. Head back to Bert in Yanville. Talk to him and he gives you a
magic scroll, now head east to the magic guild and ring the bell
to give the scroll to Zavistic rarve (use the scroll with him)
and Zavistic gives you a scrying orb.
5. Go to the magic shop in Port Sarim and talk to Betty, she
gives you a bottle of water. Use redberries and whiteberries
with this bottle of water to make pink dye. Now use the pink dye
with a lantern lense to make a rose tinted lense.
6. Talk to Betty again and she puts a vial on the counter.
Stand in the doorway and use your rose tinted lense with that
vial on the counter to get a truth serum. Talk to her again and
she uses the sand with it.
8. Return to Sandy in Brinhaven and say "A small parrot with a
pink banana is sitting outside your window". Then use the truth
serum with Sandy's coffee mug.
9. Activate the scrying orb and talk to Sandy. Ask him all the
questions then return to Zavistic Rarve at the magic guild. Talk
to him then use a bucket of sand and 5 earth runes on him. A cut
scene follows.
10. Bank any weapons and armour and go to Entrana. On your
arrival head west talk to Mazion by the sand pit.
He gives you a wizard head. Take this back to Zavistic Rarve at
the magic guild (use the head with Zavistic after ringing the
bell) and it's quest complete!
Reward: 1000 thieving XP, 9000
crafting XP and a secret reward from Bert
QP reward: 1
Note: After finishing the quest,
talk to Bert again. The secret reward is that he will collect 84
buckets of sand and take them to your bank if you talk to him.
You can do this once per day.
