On YouTube I began as a novice video maker without any editing
software or a decent screen recorder, but with some mild intelligence and a
passion for comedy.
My first video series, "A Day In The Life Of Asparagoose",
which was a satire involving a character called Asparagoose who goes round
pretending he's awesome and eating all day. The series didn't take off and I
never finished it until many months later.
My third video (that I've kept) was called "RuneScape Cartoon
Like!" and was a poorly animated yet somewhat charming cartoon about why
RuneScape noobs are bad. Cartoon making, I found from many of the comments on
the video, was my true calling.
And so, after a few more bad ingame videos and a few more crappy
cartoons, myself and my friend Ice Drago deigned to make a RuneScape cartoon
together, and after much drinking and thinking, we created the now famous "Asparagoose
and Ice Drago's RuneScape Cartoon Adventure Like", or "AAIDRSCAL" as it is more
commonly known.
As the series progressed, more characters and more plots were
made, until the cartoon gathered a following of at least 1000 fans. And here,
almost 20 episodes later, we're still going.

Q & A
1. How long have you been making Videos on Youtube?
=Since August '06.
2. What was it that got you interested in video making in the first place?
=Well someone on RuneScape told me to take a look at their
video on YouTube. I loved it, and started making my own.
3. What Software do you mainly use to make your videos?
=I use Registered Hypercam2 for my videos, and usually
edit with Windows Movie Maker. I have Vegas 8, but only really use it for Music
Videos.
4. Do you ever get the feeling that video making is really cutting into your
runescape playing time and if so what do you think about it?
=Yes. Since I've been video making seriously (for about a
year and a half) I've levelled about 10 times. If I wasn't making videos, I'd
probably be level 100 by now.
5. Runescape video making has changed a lot over the last year. What kind of
changes in Runescape video making do you expect to see in the next?
=I expect there'll be more TehNoobShow copies, and more
crappy Music Videos. RS Cartoons, as always, will grow worse and worse, as more
'tards join YouTube.
6. If there was one thing you could have done differently over your Video making
career on youtube, What would that be?
=Remembering to upload our videos onto my friend's
profile, so he had as many subscribers as me.
7. What's the longest amount of time you ever spent making one video.
=From the 19th of October '07 to the 9th of December '07.
About 2 months, which was part 14.3 of our cartoon. It took about 2 months
because half way through the animation stage of the cartoon, the file went
corrupt and we lost all the clips.
8. Getting your videos out there is very hard now with so many video makers on
Youtube. What kind of advice would you offer to new video makers who are
struggling to find exposure they deserve.
=Make friends with Theunforgiving. No, seriously, just be
nice to people and work hard on your videos. Make sure you cheap out as little
as possible, and make your humour so everyone can enjoy it.
9. What other things are you interested in apart from Runescape and video
making?
=I quite like writing, and drawing. I'm not terribly good
at either, but I enjoy it.
10. What other MMO's do you play apart from Runescape?
=None, now. I used to play World of Warcraft on my friends
account, but he quit, as it gets very very boring when you reach Max level.
RuneScape's a lot better anyway :)
