I made video's for a while before I actually joined YouTube, but
they were bad quality and I still struggled with the basics of video making.
It was only when I joined YouTube that I learnt about video
quality, files sizes, file types and video content. And I never even really knew
what a subscriber was for quite a long time, so I don't remember how quickly I
got them to begin with.. But around the time I had 200 - 300 subscribers I made
a bank video and I had a irl video just introducing myself but I removed it after
a few months due to the male comments I was receiving. Anyway around that time I
also got in brief contact with Maxboison and Omgdan. Back then I wasn't aware
how any of us would become to be so known from making the videos we did.
So I just continued to make my random videos, a lot were of
adventuring about with clue scrolls.. but I ended up removing those too as I
felt they were boring, even if they were relatively popular with my viewers. My
subscribers increased at a steady pace over the year and generally I am pleased
I joined YouTube and made my vids :)

Q & A
1. How long have you been making Videos on Youtube?
I joined youtube on July 3rd 2006, so its around a year
and a half. Only 3 days after Maxboison :p weird?
2. What was it that got you interested in video making in the first place?
The first video of runescape I ever saw was one my friend
made of cw and I remember I was so confused how he video'd runescape (lol). He
showed me how to get camtasia and I just played with it and mainly video'd F2P
clan trips or parties, I only did very basic editing and titles back then.
3. What Software do you mainly use to make your videos?
I have only ever used Camtasia to record my screen, and
for a good year I used Wmm to edit, but then before xmas 2007 I got Sony Vegas 8
Platinum, which is great to edit with, gives awesome quality and has a never
ending list of special effects, transitions etc etc. Only worth getting if you
know what your doing though. Its really not something for a beginner.
4. Do you ever get the feeling that video making is really cutting into your
runescape playing time and if so what do you think about it?
Well, yes I do. It was only up until recently that I've
almost stopped playing runescape all together. I still log on sometimes to find
a friend or to checkhow crap the latest updates are and remind myself why I'm
not playing... haha. I did used to play quite seriously, skilling, getting max
amounts of exp I could whenever I was on.. but now I just chill.
5. Runescape video making has changed a lot over the last year. What kind of
changes in Runescape video making do you expect to see in the next?
I expect to see a lot of unusual things, lots more irl (or
I hope) People are forever having unique ideas which is great and it can only
get more adventurous. Voice-overs are really popular at the moment and its great
because reading the rs text can get boring, so I don't have any predictions but
I'm expecting some good stuff.
6. If there was one thing you could have done differently over your Video making
career on youtube, What would that be?
Oh.. That's kind of easy question even though I sat here
for a good 5 minutes thinking about it...
I would have liked to do some more comical videos as they do so well, I mean
everybody likes to laugh so yeah I missed out in that side.
7. What's the longest amount of time you ever spent making one video.
I think my video's which took longest were "Ultimate KQ"
was like verging on over a month? As I wanted to get lots of decent drops on vid,
and good hits etc. Some other time consuming ones were "Iron maiden - rainmaker"
and "Vod goes barrows" took about a week each.
8. Getting your videos out there is very hard now with so many video makers on
Youtube. What kind of advice would you offer to new video makers who are
struggling to find exposure they deserve.
My Advice is..
- Be original (I cant stress how important this is)
- Make it good quality
- Make it interesting! fun, funny whatever make it bold.
- Be adventurous, if you have a risky idea.. do it! Some of the crazy ideas end
out being the best ones.
9. What other things are you interested in apart from Runescape and video
making?
Singing is the first thing I will always mention, I'm in a
choir (not the religious type as I'm an atheist) we enter competitions on the
radio, tv, sing at weddings anything that's available, its awesome. I love music
as well of course, varying from Metal being my main taste, to rnb and some rap
as singing and dancing is fun. I also played the drums for 3 years and I do
intend on playing again once I move house or something, might make a vid of it
someday.
I have a small love for stylish cars :p And I'm very into
Oriental things and Anime, I love anime.. as some people have noticed from my
videos there are a few
hints to that lol.
10. What other MMO's do you play apart from Runescape?
None, ever.
